Introduction
Interactive Travel Group, Inc.
("ITG") recognizes that your privacy and the
protection of your personal information are
important to you. This statement discloses how ITG
helps protect your personal information while
using the Traveler ID Web site
(www.travelerid.com) and the Traveler ID
Service.
Traveler ID is a service that allows users to create a single
travel profile (including account number and passcode), referred to as credentials,
which can be used to sign-in and transmit travel profile and other personal information
to any sites or services within the Traveler ID Network. By
using the Traveler ID Network Web Site and the Traveler ID Service, you consent
to the data practices described in this statement.
Traveler ID's collection of
your personal information
What
Information Is Collected by Traveler
ID
When you create a Traveler ID account, Traveler ID will collect and store your
name, address, email address, travel preferences, passcode and other personal
information, which are used to create your credentials.
When you use credentials on a site or service within the Traveler ID Network,
Traveler ID logs the place where you are signing in as a part of your sign-in
activity, as described below. However, Traveler ID does not
collect any other information about your online activity at that site, such as
the web pages you visit or the purchases you make, whether you are signed in or
not.
Traveler ID assigns a unique 8-digit number to every Traveler ID at
registration. When you choose to sign in to a site within
the Traveler ID Network, Traveler ID sends this unique Traveler ID number to
the site so that it can determine whether you are the same person from one
sign-in session to the next. Once you have registered for a
Traveler ID account, you can view your unique Traveler ID account number by
logging in to your account.
Traveler ID also logs individual sign-ins for the purpose of ensuring the
efficiency and security of the Traveler ID service.
The information in these logs is identified only by the account's unique ID
number, and it is never linked with personal information unless a user contacts
the service to request assistance.
Traveler ID's use of your
personal information
How Traveler ID Will Not Use
Your Personal Information
You decide when and where to use your Traveler ID.
Traveler ID will not use or share your personal information in a manner that
differs from what is described in this Privacy Statement without your prior
consent.
Traveler ID will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties
without your prior consent.
How
Traveler ID Uses Your Personal
Information
Traveler ID uses your personal information for the operation and maintenance of
the Traveler ID Service. For example, Traveler ID uses your
email address to send you a welcome email message when you first register
informing you about the service, telling you how to manage your credentials. You
may receive a separate email to which you must respond in order to confirm that
you are the owner of the email address associated with those credentials. This
process is designed to verify the validity of the email address and to help
prevent email addresses from being used without permission by the owners in the
creation of the account on the Traveler ID Network.
Traveler ID may also send you emails about account activity or periodic service
updates. These periodic emails are considered essential to the provision of the
service, and you cannot unsubscribe from these mailings.
If you need to reset your passcode, Traveler ID may send you password reset
emails.
Traveler ID's general
disclosure of personal
information
Traveler ID occasionally hires other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such
as answering customer support inquiries or performing statistical analyses of
our services. Traveler ID will only provide these companies
with those pieces of your personal information needed to deliver the services,
and the companies and their employees are prohibited from using that personal
information for any other purpose.
Traveler ID may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or in
the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal
requirements or comply with legal process served on ITG; (b) protect and defend
the rights or property of ITG, Traveler ID, or sites or services within the
Traveler ID Network; or (c) act under urgent circumstances to protect the
personal safety of users of Traveler ID, or the public.
Traveler ID's
disclosure of personal information to sites and services within the Traveler ID
Network
The information stored by Traveler ID is not shared with a site within the
Traveler ID Network unless you explicitly choose to provide it by clicking on a
Traveler ID Network sign-in link for that site.
Information Shared
As described above, all or any part of your travel profile and other personal
information associated with your Traveler ID account may be shared with the
site or service within the Traveler ID Network when you sign-in to those sites
using your Traveler ID. In addition, the following
"operational" information may be shared with sites when you sign in:
* The version number Traveler ID assigns to your
credentials. (A new number is assigned each time you change your credentials to
tell sites within the Traveler ID Network that the information has been
updated.)
* Whether your email address has been confirmed.
* Whether your account has been deactivated.
Use of Shared Information by Sites and Services
within the Traveler ID Network
Sites and services on the Traveler ID Network can use or share your travel
profile and personal information as described in their privacy statements.
We do not control or monitor the privacy practices of sites within the Traveler
ID Network, and the privacy practices of those sites will vary.
However, all sites or services within the Traveler ID Network must
contractually agree to have a posted privacy statement. You
should carefully review the privacy statement for each site within the Traveler
ID Network you sign up with or sign in to in order to determine how each site
or service will use the information it collects.
Managing your personal information
Access
to Your Personal Information
You can access your personal information by logging in to your Traveler ID
account. You can always change your password, email address
and other personal information.
Closing Your Traveler ID Account
You may close your Traveler ID account emailing your request to
privacy@travelerid.com.
If you attempt to register for a Traveler ID account and find that someone else
has already created credentials with your email address, you have the option of
contacting Traveler ID customer service at privacy@travelerid.com and requesting
that the credentials using your email address be forced to change so that you
may use your email address when creating your Traveler ID account.
Inactivation and Deletion of
Account
ITG will delete your Traveler ID account if it remains inactive for an extended
period of time. Inactivity is defined as a failure to sign
in to any site or service within the Traveler ID Network using your
credentials.
Security and storage of your
personal information
ITG is committed to protecting the security of your personal information.
We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect
your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer
systems with limited access, which are located in controlled facilities.
When your Traveler ID number is sent to a site within the Traveler ID
Network at sign-in, Traveler ID uses industry-standard security technologies to
encrypt it for transmission over the Internet.
You must type the correct passcode to access your Traveler ID account
information. It is your responsibility to ensure the
security of your Traveler ID Network credentials passcode and not to reveal
this information to others.
Personal information collected by Traveler ID may be stored and processed in
the
United States
or any other country in which ITG or its affiliates,
subsidiaries, or agents maintain facilities. By using the
Traveler ID Network, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of
your country.
Use of
Cookies
A cookie is a very small text file that a Web site saves to your computer's hard disk to store
information that you provide about yourself or to store your preferences.
Traveler ID uses cookies whenever you sign in to a site within the Traveler ID
Network. Traveler ID stores your unique Traveler ID number,
and the time you signed in, in an encrypted cookie on your hard disk. This
cookie allows you to move from page to page at the site without having to sign
in again on each page.
Traveler ID also uses cookies to improve the sign in experience.
For example, Traveler ID may store your email address and passcode in a
cookie that will remain on your computer after you sign out.
This cookie allows your email address and passcode to be pre-populated, so
that you will not need to type this information the next time you sign in.
If you are using a public computer or do not otherwise want this information
to be stored, you can select the appropriate radio button on the sign-in page,
and this cookie will not be used.
The sites or services you visited may store their own cookies on your computer. Traveler
ID recommends that you read each site's privacy statement to understand their
policies and practices regarding the use of cookies. You
have the ability to accept or decline cookies using the settings on your
browser.
However, if you choose to decline cookies, you will not be able to sign in
using your credentials within the Traveler ID Network.
Changes to this Privacy
Statement
Traveler ID will occasionally update this Privacy Statement.
When we do, we will also revise the "last updated" date at the top and
bottom of the Privacy Statement. Traveler ID will obtain
your opt-in consent for any updates to this Privacy Statement that materially
expand the sharing or use of your personal information in ways not disclosed in
this Privacy Statement at the time of collection.
